Worshipping Goddess Saraswati to be Blessed with Education

With schools all set to take up examinations of students in the month of March, children are all terrified and panicking. Parents are even more anxious and worried about their children’s examinations and education. This is the time when parents and children alike start praying all the more to God to help them with the papers. Speaking of education and prayers leads us to one very important deity in Hinduism who is considered to be the goddess of education and knowledge – Goddess Saraswati.

Considered to be the divine consort of Lord Brahma, Goddess Saraswati is regarded to be one with power of speech and wisdom. She is also regarded as the eliminator of chaos and confusion, and one who brings calmness and comfort.  She is devotedly respected and regarded as the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, learning, and arts in the religion of Hinduism. Dressed in a simple white saree, and riding a white swan or sitting on a white lotus, she has the appearance of piousness and calmness. She holds four significant accessories in her four hands – the Veena Sitar signifying melody and creativity, the Vedas signifying knowledge, bead garland signifying spirituality, and a water pot signifying the reservoir of life.

Other than in India, Goddess Saraswati is worshipped as a goddess of knowledge in Nepal, Japan, Bali, Vietnam, and Myanmar too. In fact, Saraswati Puja is done in schools and other educational institutions too. She is worshipped by students and learners to accomplish their learning of education and arts. Although Vasant Panchami is considered the biggest day to worship her as it is her birthday, she is worshipped throughout the year with equal devotion by those willing to pursue any kind of learning and education. She is also worshipped by artists, mainly those related to music. If pleased, she can grant devotees with lots of knowledge, learning, wisdom and talent.

Also known as Goddess Gayatri, she is considered to be an important part of the trinity of goddesses; Goddess Parvati and Goddess Lakshmi being the other two parts. This is why people also perform the Gayatri Havan to gain spiritual energy and enlightenment of greater wisdom. There are 1,25,000 Gayatri Mantras chanted in this Puja, after a Sankalp or resolution is taken by the Pandits who are going to perform it. To be blessed with education, wisdom, knowledge, or spiritual contentment and enlightenment, you must also worship Goddess Saraswati, or have a Gayatri Havan done by hiring MakeMyPuja Pandits, who are experienced and proficient to carry out the Puja with all rituals followed correctly.
